A native El Pasoan, Petra Espinoza Rosales strives to bring her Mexican-Mestizo heritage through her work as an artist to comprehensive understanding for all to enjoy and learn. Her father was a great influence in her life, he taught her and introduced her to self-express in arts. While growing up she spent most of her spare time drawing, painting, making outfits for dolls, which were from different types of material and any other crafts that interested her. As a young child Petra remembers her father telling stories about the beauty and wonderful places in Mexico. In May 1993 Petra Rosales started taking classes in porcelain doll making, inspired by her children, who perform with a ballet folklorico in El Paso influenced her to make or create a Mexican doll, which she named her Juanita.

In April l996 Yolanda an agent from Allstate asked Petra if she could make 32 dolls to represent the 32 states of Mexico, a special collection. For the Mariachi Festival for 1996. Husband Jorge Rosales and Petra have done research on the authentic regional cultural dress or outfits, head wear, color of skin, eyes and the why. Jorge and Petra are trying to learn more about the cultural to inform the people. Petra and Jorge Rosales are working together to create a one of a kind doll, an authentic Porcelain Mexican Dolls. The Rosales' named the collection Pensamientos de Mi Tierra in memory of her father Gregorio Chavez Espinoza.
